HONESDALE, PA — Victims' Intervention Program (VIP) invites the community to bring some color to the closing months of the year in the group’s 15th annual Fall Flower Sale.

The funds raised by this flower sale go a long way toward providing critical services for local victims and survivors of heinous crimes.

Purchasing even one, $10 pot of chrysanthemum, kale or aster grows the funding to pay for counseling time to help someone overcome trauma, a spokesperson said.

It also helps pay for survivors to spend a night in a hotel to escape an abusive or exploitative environment.

VIP has raised as much as $9,000 from each sale in recent years, making this a prominent source of the agency's funding.

"I've been helping deliver flowers in the spring and fall for VIP for the last 13 years and they are my favorite days of volunteering," said Keith Williams, flower sale committee chair. "Who doesn't like to get flowers? It's a great day for a great cause! Every dollar raised stays helping people in our communities of Wayne and Pike counties."

VIP couldn't provide necessary services such as a 24-hour crisis hotline or courtroom/medical accompaniment without generous community involvement, the spokesperson said.

Not only do donated dollars bolster services, but the generosity of local organizations like Pike County Habitat for Humanity, Wayne County Cooperative Agricultural Society, the American Legion Post #139 of Milford and numerous individuals allow VIP to run successful delivery operations when it’s time to bring these beautiful bulbs and bushes to their buyers.

These flower sales would be nowhere near as successful without generous donations of space to unload and the people power to get the flowers where they need to go.

Victims' Intervention Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping survivors of victimizing crimes such as domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, homicide, robbery, identity theft and more.

VIP strives to educate the community about these crimes and empower survivors to overcome their trauma and take back their lives. VIP also invites the community to envision a world where these crimes no longer exist and work towards making that dream a reality.
