MONTICELLO, NY — With the start of
2024, most Sullivan County property owners will be accessing and paying their tax bills through new software. Starting in January, tax bills can be accessed at ny-sullivancounty.totalcollectionsolution.com.
Previously, the 15 towns in Sullivan County used taxlookup.net. At least one, the Town of Fremont, is staying with it, said Nancy Buck, the county treasurer. Every town website will provide the correct link for accessing bill and paying taxes (see sidebar for the complete list of towns and their websites). Taxpayers will access the new site with a user name and password. For example, in the Town of Bethel, the username is bethelpublic, and the password is public, according to Susan Brown, the town’s tax collector. To electronically pay your tax bill in Bethel, visit townofbethelny.us/tax-collector.
Buck said the change was necessary because the old software, which had served the county well since 2004, kept crashing, and its performance was getting worse and worse over time.
When the county first instituted taxlookup.net in 2004, it had absorbed the cost of the software and will do the same with the new, including yearly fees.
