Harmony closes third season with Latin jazz

HAWLEY, PA — Once again, Harmony in the Woods presents something brand new… a 10-piece Latin jazz band of musicians and led by pianist, composer, conductor and music director Jeremy Franklin Goodman.

“Rhapsody in Latin Jazz: Featuring Jeremy Franklin Goodman and His Big Band” will perform on Sunday, September 3 at 6 p.m.

Opportunities like these are becoming the trademark of Foundation for Harmony Presents, a spokesperson said. “Audiences from Hawley and the Lake Region are sophisticated as they are diverse. We want to present concerts that not only satisfy the discriminating tastes of our town, but also expand the experience of residents and visitors alike,” said, Jeanne Genzlinger, Harmony president.

The concert will offer original Latin jazz music ranging from energetic sambas to sizzling mambos to mellow Brazilian bossa novas.

In addition to original compositions, arrangements of well-known classical pieces will be featured on the program, including a Latin rendition of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”

The cost for general admission is $40, and it is $20 for a child.

Shows take place at Harmony in the Woods, 19 Imagination Way, located between the North of the Border Fireworks and Paupack Watering Hole. Doors open 45 minutes prior.

Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic dinners, drinks and snacks. Lawn chairs are preset and provided for every attendee.
