Expanding local opportunities at next Farmer-to-Farmer

HONESDALE, PA — On Tuesday, May 23, the Cooperage Project hosts the next Farmer-to-Farmer event.

The topic on the table is agriculture and food business in Wayne County.

Farmers, producers, processors and the general public are invited to learn more about a series of initiatives aimed at providing additional outlets for farm products and connecting them to the local food system.

The Cooperage Project will be discussing the launch of the new Northern Poconos Mobile Farm Market, which is expected to begin bringing locally grown vegetables, fruits and other products to county residents.

Wayne County continues to move forward with the proposed Ag Innovation Center, and you can learn about the latest progress and efforts to bring this ambitious project to life, as well as about the Wayne County Food Pantry’s local farm orders.

It’s all part of an effort to provide additional opportunities to put healthy food on the table while supporting local farm families.

The talks are held in cooperation with the Wayne Tomorrow! Agriculture Task Force and the Wayne Pike County Farm Bureau.

The Wayne Tomorrow! Ag Task Force, with the help of the Nikki Jones Agency, developed the AgroLegacy brand to represent Wayne County agriculture and its related products. It is designed to help local farmers, processors and markets set their products apart.

The program is currently accepting registrations for an inaugural group of participants so the task force can work out the fine details of administering the certified local program. At Farmer-to-Farmer, you can learn more about what it is and how it works.
