NARROWSBURG, NY — Quick action on the part of a Firmstone Lakewood Fuels driver may have averted tragedy as an elderly Pennsylvania driver, blinded by the morning sun, rammed into the parked fuel truck on October 31 at 8:10 a.m. on Bridge Street. The fuel truck driver, a trained EMT, was in the process of delivering fuel, and immediately responded to the driver, beginning CPR, as no pulse was initially detected. The state police, who were already in position to monitor speeding further up Bridge Street, were quick to arrive, as were both the Narrowsburg and Lava fire departments.
Emergency services personnel at the scene reported that the vehicle’s driver had a pulse when taken into the ambulance and then was airlifted to a hospital. No information was available about the identity of the driver or his condition at press time.
