An exciting “Evening of Early Music” will close the 26th season of the Sunset Concert Series at the Shandelee Music Festival on August 17.

The Early Music Company features director Andrew Arceci on viola da gamba, violone and double bass, and soprano Teresa Wakim.

Performer, composer and scholar, Andrew Arceci has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Oxford Baroque, the Boston Camerata, Handel & Haydn Society, Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra, The Washington Bach Consort, the New Juilliard Ensemble and the National Philharmonic. His many recording credits, and festival highlights include the Washington Early Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, previous performances with the Shandelee Music Festival and more.

Arceci’s studies include the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University (US), The Juilliard School and Magdalen College, Oxford. Radio credits include BBC-Radio 3 (UK), Deutschlandradio (Germany), Taipei Broadcasting Station (Taiwan), NPR and PRI.

Teresa Wakim’s affinity for the Baroque has brought her much success as a frequent soloist with many of the world’s best period instrument ensembles, including the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Wiener Akademie, the Handel & Haydn Society, Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Baroque, Dallas Bach Society, Pacific Musicworks, Early Music Vancouver, Handel Choir of Baltimore, the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, Tragicomedia, and Mercury Baroque Orchestra.

Performances of Arceci & Company have brought reviews such as, “The playing was detailed and beautifully balanced throughout the afternoon …” (The Washington Post); and "Soprano Teresa Wakim brought the audience into another world with her Aus Leibe," (The Boston Musical Intelligencer).

The Saturday, August 17 concert of “An Evening of Early Music featuring Andrew Arceci & Company” will showcase music by Caccini, Rossi, Corelli, Vivaldi and others, and will be performed at the Shandelee Music Festival’s fully accessible, climate controlled Sunset Concert Pavilion, located at 442 J. Young Road, Livingston Manor.

All performances in the Sunset Concert Series begin at 8 p.m. and will be followed by a specialty dessert reception.
