Amanda Morabito, of Yulan, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 6, 2013. She was 17.

The daughter of James and Rebecca Morabito, she was born in Middletown on January 27, 1996.

Amanda was entering her senior year at Eldred Central High School. She began her service with the Yulan Fire Department as a cadet and became a junior member of the department.

A family statement reads: “Our special little peanut was a beautiful free-spirited girl who had friends everywhere she went. As the oldest, she loved all of her siblings and always protected them, as they meant the world to her. She loved her pet cats and aspired to be a nurse. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. She will be missed by all who ever knew her. Fly high with the Angels baby you will forever be in our hearts. We love you.”

She is survived by her parents, James and Rebecca Morabito of Yulan, NY; her two sisters, Ashley and Emmah Morabito of Yulan, NY; four brothers, Matthew Morabito of Yulan, NY, Cody Dul, Wiatt Dul, and Tyler Dul of Mt. Hope, NY; grandmothers Ann McGarry of Jeffersonville, NY and Marcella Bruning; grandfathers Thomas Bruning and Papa Tony Morabito; stepfather Cary Dul of Mt. Hope; birth mother Dee Dul and several uncles, aunts and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Patricia Gunderman and her maternal grandfather, James J. McGarry III.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home 3412 SR97, Barryville, NY 12719.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Yulan NY. Christian burial will follow in parish cemetery.
