PIKE COUNTY, PA — Pike County Hands of Hope (PCHOH), a charity that provides assistance to families and individuals who are homeless or near-homeless in the community, is currently seeking volunteers, including a part-time Hopeline coordinator, Hopeline volunteers, hands-on volunteers and a spiritual coordinator.
Currently PCHOH is experiencing a significant increase in requests for a helping hand due to the drop in nighttime temperatures and cold days, as well as a rise of foreclosures in Pike County. Many of the community’s homeless end up on the streets without blankets, clothing and other necessities to keep them warm.
The spiritual coordinator organizes once-a-month prayer meetings and enlists the help of others; contact president@pikecountyhoh.org. The Hopeline coordinator is responsible for the direction of the Hopeline; contact president@pikecountyhoh.org. Hopeline volunteers answer telephone calls and set up temporary help, while hands-on volunteers provide direct service to program recipients; contact hopeline@pikecountyhoh.org. For more information, call 570/296-HOPE (4673).
