LAKEVILLE, PA — The Sculpted Ice Works Factory Tour and Natural Ice Harvesting Museum will open on Friday, May 25.
Sculpted Ice Works manufactures ice carving blocks and transforms them into ice sculptures of all sizes. Mark Crouthamel, master carver and founder of Sculpted Ice Works in 1999, has spent several years developing a factory tour of the ice plant and a museum of the history of naturally harvested ice.
Years ago, harvesting lake ice in the region was a large commercial industry. Step back in time to learn how ice was “made” before commercial refrigeration. In the modern ice plant, you can watch how clear ice is manufactured today and how ice sculptures are made in the Sculpted Ice Works Factory Tour.
Summer hours will be Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit sculptediceworks.com/tour or call 570/226-6246.
