New hotel breaks ground at Chapin Estate

BETHEL, NY — The investors of The Chatwal Lodge held a ground-breaking ceremony on December 5. The lodge, developed by the Dream Hotel Group will be established on 26 acres located within the Chapin Estate gated community along the shores of the Toronto Reservoir.

Members of Monroe Girl Scout Troop 273 spent time giving back to the community by volunteering at the 21st annual Thanksgiving Stuff the Bus event.

Stuff the Bus brings in more than 21,000 pounds of goods

REGION — The twice yearly Stuff the Bus drive, sponsored by iHeartMedia, collected 21,635 pounds of non perishable food and basic household items this year, according to a press release.

Gingerbread decorating at the library

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — The Western Sullivan Public Library will host a slate of holiday festivities for children this year. Local chef and councilperson Jill Padua will lead a gingerbread decorating session for kids at the Tusten-Cochecton branch December 3 at 5:30 p.m. and at the Jeffersonville branch December 5 at 4 p.m.

Same lineup remains for 2018-19 Yulan Fire Department leadership

The Yulan Fire Department in the Town of Highland installed its 2018-2019 slate of officers November 10, with no changes from the previous year. 

Adam Norris will remain as chief of the station, with James Haas as captain and Nancy Hofaker as the captain of fire police.
