MONTICELLO, NY — Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan announced that Lenard Jackins, 34, of Yonkers, was sentenced on November 15 to 12 years in prison for his possession of fentanyl and crack cocaine with intent to distribute them in Sullivan County. A trial jury convicted Jackins on September 14 of two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class B felonies, following the recovery of those drugs from Jackins at the time of his arrest by members of the New York State Police in the Town of Thompson on February 21. Jackins has previously served a five-year prison sentence for his 2011 felony drug and conspiracy convictions in New York City.

Galligan said, “This prosecution underscores the commitment of our law enforcement community to detecting and deterring the distribution of deadly fentanyl in Sullivan County by those who prey upon addiction for profit.” Galligan thanked the New York State Police for their thorough investigation and commitment to ensuring this defendant was held accountable and responsible for his criminal acts. Assistant District Attorney Lisa Bondarenka prosecuted the case.
