New York State Police Troop F Press Release
TOWN OF THOMPSON — On September 18, 2025, at approximately 4:11 p.m., troopers from the State Police barracks in Wurtsboro and Liberty responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the State Route 42 roundabout that merges onto the State Route 17 westbound on-ramp, located in the Town of Thompson.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on State Route 42 and approached the yield sign at the roundabout. The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was identified as Gino R. Giordano, age 24, of Shohola, Pennsylvania. As the vehicle entered the roundabout and attempted to take the first exit to merge onto the State Route 17 westbound on-ramp, it struck a pedestrian who was crossing in a crosswalk.
The pedestrian, identified as Ken Ghana Parsons, age 56, Monticello, NY, sustained life-threatening injuries. Life-saving measures were administered on scene before Parsons was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing.
