White Sulphur Springs man arrested for robbery

The New York State Police at Wurtsboro announce the arrest of James Lethohic age 31, of White Sulphur Springs for Robbery 1st, a felony as well as several other felonies and misdemeanors.

The arrest was the culmination of a four month investigation into a reported armed robbery of a 79 year old man in the Town of Mamakating. The victim had placed an ad in a local newspaper seeking to buy stamps and had been contacted by Lethohic who indicated that he had a stamp collection for sale.

They had agreed to meet and during the meeting Lethohic produced a knife, assaulted the elderly victim and relieved him of his money and vehicle. Lethohic had previously been a suspect in a past residential burglary in the Town of Mamakating and was additionally charged with crimes related to that event.

Lethohic was arraigned before Town of Mamakating Town Justice Joel Welch and was committed to the Sillivan County Jail on no bail. Lethohicis to return to the Town of Mamakating Court on November 5, 2014 and 1:00pm.
