Welcome to Bucky’s world

As spring quickly moves along, Bucky, one of the mixed-breed goats at our farm, is thoroughly excited for more outside playtime in the sunshine.

During the winter, Bucky tends to become more aggressive toward those around him, because he is in a more confined area, which means less room for play. He will get frustrated that the other goats don’t want to go outside in the cold to butt heads with him and battle it out.

It was never planned for Bucky to permanently reside at this farm. The boss I had at the time, who owned him, needed help, and I agreed to take him and keep him with the other boys we had until he could be taken back. To keep a long story short, I fell in love with this little goat and didn’t want to give him up. My boss ended up gifting him to me for Christmas because she knew he’d be taken care of!

Bucky was a total “panicky” goat when we first took him over to our farm. He was under a year old and had little nubs for horns sticking out on his fluffy head and had the cutest little “Baa” that he would belt out when he got scared.

At this time, Brownie, our Nigerian dwarf goat, was the alpha male and leader of the group, and Bucky was terrified of him and his brother Blackie. Bucky would always escape the electric fence and run up to the house, crying for us to save him from the big bad grownups.

As Buck got older, he got bigger and bigger, until he was over 250 pounds. He grew these wonky, spiraled horns to be reckoned with, and owned the group of goats at just under two years old.

Today, Bucky is over 10 years old, is still head of the herd, and is having tons of fun. Bucky loves to play ball, and will head-butt a jolly ball when tossed to him, wagging his tail with delight. He loves vegetable snacks, being the center of attention, being brushed and roughhousing.
