What a shame to see the Skinners Falls bridge be destroyed. I have memories of kayaking past the bridge with my young daughter and later my girlfriend. Always bringing a sandwich and a drink. Gliding underneath the bridge, looking up, marveling at its contrast between steel and nature.
Oh how sad to see it destroyed! Why can’t this bridge be turned into a “Walkway over the Delaware”? Highland and Poughkeepsie, NY collaborated and made their old railroad bridge (twice as high and in need of twice as much repair as the Skinner’s Falls Bridge) into a tourist attraction called “Walkway over the Hudson.” It is well worth transversing and making money for the community. PennDOT could be making a big mistake condemning this historic and fascinating bridge.
