TOWN OF BETHEL, NY — On Sunday July 21, 2019 at approximately 3:15 p.m., deputy Anthony DosSantos of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a report of a drowning at a residence located at 75 Doctor Duggan Rd. in the Town of Bethel. At the scene the deputy found that residents had just pulled a 2-year-old child out of the swimming pool. The child was unconscious but breathing.

The White Lake Fire Department responded and the decision was made to meet the ambulance at the White Lake firehouse. The child was transported in the sheriff’s patrol car and turned over to Mobile Medic. The child was subsequently taken to a landing zone at Collins Field in Monguap Valley where he was put on a helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. As of July 22 the child was in stable condition at the hospital.

On Wednesday July 17, 2019 at approximately 12:38 p.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a boat accident on Sackett Lake in the Town of Thompson. At the scene deputies learned that a boat pulling a 13-year-old male on a tube, swerved to avoid colliding with another boat.

The towing boat executed its turn too late to prevent the boy on the tube from slamming into the side of the other boat. The boy was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center where he received four staples to close a laceration on his head. No charges were filed in this incident, and the victim was expected to recover fully. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Mobile Medic and Monticello Fire Department.
