Press release:  On Saturday December 1st, 2018 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Jeremy Scutt, 20 of Cortland and Eric Seubert 32 of Milton for possessing methamphetamine after an investigation into a motor vehicle accident. Village of Liberty Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Sullivan Avenue at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Investigation into the accident revealed that one of the drivers, Seubert, was operating his vehicle with a suspended New York State driver’s license. Further investigation revealed that Seubert had possessed in his vehicle approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine and he and Scutt had removed the drugs and placed them into a different vehicle operated by Scutt, in an attempt to prevent their discovery by police.

Officers ultimately located and seized the drugs and arrested both Seubert and Scutt. Both men were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree and tampering with physical evidence, both felonies, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Both men were arraigned in the Town of Liberty court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $35, 000 bail for Seubert and $50,000 for Scutt.
