Tusten is a great town, the envy of its neighbors. It has a rich history yet continues to attract new residents, businesses and fresh energy.

My wife and I have lived on Little Lake Erie for thirty years. We’ve seen many changes in that time, but also a refreshing constancy. I’m reminded of our mighty “neighbor,” the Delaware. “New” water flows by every day, but it’s always the same old river.

I’m running for Tusten Town Supervisor to keep the accent on the positive, to unite neighbors and bring a fresh perspective and a decisive voice to the board.
I served a dozen years on the Tusten Zoning Board of Appeals, working with four different supervisors. I’m a 10 year member and past president of the Board of Trustees of the Western Sullivan Public Library (WSPL). Many know me as a nationally syndicated television critic and columnist. I make a living communicating ideas.

I know how to run a board meeting and how to devise (and stick to) an annual budget. I can digest information and share it in a concise manner. I know how essential grants can be to defray the costs of maintaining and improving our aging buildings, road and water infrastructure.

I believe that the digital divide is one of the greatest problems facing rural communities. As supervisor, I would work with our local county, state and federal representatives to keep them aware that too many of our neighbors lack the broadband connections and dependable cell phone coverage to do their homework, start and maintain a business or sell their homes.

A candidate on the Democratic and Common Sense Party lines, I’ve been endorsed by current supervisor Carol Wingert, a lifelong Republican. I look forward to your support on November 5.
