I have been productive during my first term as a Councilwoman for the Town of Tusten. I am proud to say that I am environmentally minded, a unifier, a listener, diligent, fiscally conservative, hardworking and committed to my community.

This year I have helped secure $163,600 in grant money for the town. I have been the chairperson of the Tusten Energy Committee for the past eight years. Our accomplishments have designated us the 19th town in New York State a Certified Climate Smart Community.

We have introduced a soft plastic recycling effort, town-owned LED streetlights coming soon, a town solar array providing power to all municipality buildings and facilities, provided reusable tote bags to Tusten households to reduce plastic bag use and upgraded all lighting to LEDs at town hall, the highway barn and the water/sewer departments.

Recently we received a grant for a food-scrap composting digester to reduce food waste in Tusten, saving money for residents at the dump while producing bio-gas and liquid fertilizer, two valuable commodities that have potential to bring in revenue for the town.

This year I was honored by the Upper Delaware Council with their Community Service Award for accomplishments like these and more.

I moved to Sullivan County 30 years ago and moved to Narrowsburg 12 years ago. I have embraced volunteerism throughout my life. My background as an artist has served me well. This year I painted the Tusten dove, helped in designing the “Welcome to Narrowsburg” billboard as well as the “Tusten Recycles” reusable tote bags. In addition I curated art gallery shows at The Union for the past 1 1/2 years proudly featuring local talent.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I respect the history of the region and those who live here. I truly believe in growing our common goals for the future of our special Town of Tusten. I welcome all views and respect all opinions.

As an elected official, I took an oath to protect the health, safety and welfare of all Tusten residents. My focus on this oath is of paramount importance to me. On Tuesday November 5th, please vote to re-elect Brandi Merolla for Town of Tusten Councilwoman.

Thank-you for your vote!
