MONTCICELLO — At 1:38 a.m. on August 18, 2025, Village of Monticello Police responded to a 911 report of shots fired outside of Nelly’s Sports Bar located at 456 Broadway. Two males sustained gunshot wounds to their right shoulders and another male sustained a graze wound to an arm. One of the victims who was shot in the shoulder was able to drive himself to the Monticello Police Station where emergency care was initiated in Station Lobby by Monticello Police Dispatcher Danielle Cassidy, who is also an EMT.
Two Medevacs were requested but due to weather conditions they were declined. Two of the victims were then transported by Ambulance to Garnet Health Medical Center-Middletown in serious condition.
A preliminary investigation at this time shows that there were multiple shooters involved, who were located in a lot on the side of the bar and fired towards the sidewalk along Broadway, where all three victims were standing.
Village of Monticello Police were assisted at the scene by New York State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff Office and Town of Fallsburg Police.
Also assisting was Empress EMS, Town of Bethel Vol. EMS, Town of Tusten Vol. EMS, Hatzalah Catskills EMS, Senior Care EMS and Monticello Fire Department.
