The snow has been so pretty to watch this week and sledding, tubing, skiing, and ice skating have been on our list of things to do. There are so many wonderful events and happenings locally that there really is something to do for everyone. Some of the events that are coming up are mentioned below. Be sure to share if you know of an activity that can be passed along.

Save the date—This year’s King of the Ice event is scheduled for February 20. It’s the area’s premier ice fishing contest. Hats, 50-50 and raffle tickets will be available at the registration site. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded for winning in fishing categories: trout, pickerel, perch, crappie, walleye. Youth trophies are also awarded to kids in each category, but there are no cash prizes. For more information, visit https://www.sullivancountyconservationclub.org/copy-of-king-of-the-ice.

Have an avid archer in your home, or a child looking to learn the sport? The Catskill Outdoorsman in Jeffersonville has indoor archery—and this is the perfect season to learn inside. Find them on Facebook for more information, waivers, leagues and events. https://www.facebook.com/TheCatskillOutdoorsman

Adults and out-of-town children will pay at the door of the aquarium.

Sign-ups for this event will be on Tuesday, February 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the town hall. If you have any questions, call Krissy at 845/807-8007.

The Delaware Youth Center announced the 2022 board of directors; now there are many new faces: Alex Gardner (new), Scott Haberli, Margaret Luty, Christina Mace, Ann Santoro, Meryl Sheridan (new), Carolyn Simon, Alissa Smith and Anna Steppich (new). Board member emeritus Clarence Kratz was nominated and elected by the board of directors.

Personally, I am so excited to see the new pool house, pool and many other changes at the Delaware Youth Center once the snow melts. The youth center is for everyone, and you can purchase a family membership of $125 or an individual membership of $65, which includes the use of the pool, tennis and basketball courts and the playground every day throughout the summer season. There is also the option to purchase a daily pass. For general information email info@delawareyouthcenter.org.

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, please get in touch. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events, and happenings.
