The NYS Board of Elections recently launched its online absentee ballot application portal, enabling voters who prefer to vote absentee for the November 3, 2020 election to request their ballot online. This can be done now, and if voting by mail, apply as soon as possible for your absentee ballot. Ballots will be sent out on or around Friday, September 18 once your application has been processed.
The following are a few things to remember: Make sure to check the box on your absentee ballot application for “temporary illness or physical disability” as the reason for receiving an absentee ballot if you are choosing to vote absentee because of the pandemic. Even if you request an absentee ballot, you can still choose to vote in person instead, either by voting early or on election day.
Don’t forget to sign in the designated space on the back of the envelope!
Additionally, in-person early voting is also an option and will begin on Saturday, October 24 at designated polling locations in your county.
