LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, spending time with family and friends. It is the official kick-off to the summer season, and the kids are counting down the days left in school.

Hard to believe how fast time flies—it seems like just yesterday it was freezing and snowing, and now it is time to garden and play outside.

Here are some fun local events coming up:

The Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC) is holding three events this summer.

On Friday, June 17 at 6 p.m., the youth group will meet at Woodloch Springs to enjoy some indoor swimming. There’s no charge for Cochecton youth, and adults can pay $15 at Woodloch if they would like to swim. Reach out to Michelle at 570/419-8801 with any questions.

On Sunday, June 26 at 10 a.m., the CYC will visit Claws ‘N’ Paws Animal Zoo in Lake Ariel, PA. There is no charge for Cochecton youth; all adults and out-of-town youth will pay at the door. Prices per adult aged 12 and up are $22.50; juniors aged two to 11 pay $17.50.

On Saturday, August 20, the CYC will go to Animal Adventure Zoo in Harpursville, NY. Join the youth group as it explores the zoo. There’s no charge for Cochecton youth. Adults and out-of-town youth will pay at the door of the zoo. If you have questions, call Krissy at 845/807-8003.

Sign-ups for all three events will take place on Tuesday, June 7 from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the lower level of the town hall.

The programs are funded in full or in part by the Sullivan County Youth Bureau.

The Chi Hive and the Cochecton Pump House are collaborating to offer SkyGround on Sundays beginning June 5. They’ll offer yoga, meditative soundscapes and more. If you have questions, contact info@thechihive.com.

Congratulations to Don Dittmer Sr. on being awarded the Delegates Award at the Volunteer Fire Police Association of the State of NY Convention. This is the third time he’s received it.

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, get in touch. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events and happenings.
