Support for the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project

I am a lifelong resident of New York State, and I fully support the natural gas industry. I do so for so many reasons, mainly for the jobs that investment in domestic natural gas projects creates. It has cleaner emissions than oil and it’s extremely economical. The list can go on and on.

The need for energy is always increasing, and I believe the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project would help meet that need for many NY and NJ residents and businesses. This is why I am frustrated with the New York DEC and New Jersey DEP for denying water quality permits for this project.

This project will support thousands of jobs, generate critical tax revenue and help the region continue to lower its carbon emissions levels. New York has already seen its cleanest air in about 50 years thanks to increased use of natural gas over fuel oils. Northeast Supply Enhancement will help continue this success.

Northeast residents, particularly New Yorkers, cannot afford for this project to be delayed any longer.

Having fun, staying active and taking gold

It was a huge accomplishment at age 60 and being a Type 1 diabetic to be competing in the 2019 Empire State Games at SUNY Cortland on Saturday, June 15. I swam three events that day: the 100-yard IM, 200-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard backstroke. To my astonishment, I came in first in both the 100 IM and 200-yard breaststroke. I also placed third in the 50-yard backstroke, winning two gold medals and one bronze. I entered the events to stay in shape and combat the offset of my diabetes. Swimming has certainly helped me stay healthy and fit and I encourage anyone with diabetes to do something they love and stay active.

Candidate statement correction

It has come to my attention that in an advertising mailer, Nadia Rajsz has made the statement “endorsed by Sullivan County Democrats.” While I am sure that this statement is technically true, its plain reading may lead to confusion among primary voters. Additionally, photographs and writings in other media publications have given the impression that the committee had chosen to endorse a particular candidate, which is simply not true.

I would like to make the following clear to the voters of the Sullivan County Legislative District 2. The Sullivan County Democratic Committee, after much discussion, and in a democratic fashion, chose not to formally endorse any candidate for this race prior to the primary. Simply put, there is no “endorsed” candidate of the Sullivan County Democratic Committee. The Democratic Party is a big tent party and while we may not agree on everything, we are always strongest when we make our voices heard.

Our committee, in a thoughtful manner, decided that the endorsement should come from the voters of Sullivan County Legislative District 2.
