LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — The Sullivan West Central School District election and vote on the 2019-20 budget will be held May 21, at each of the Sullivan West election districts between the hours of 12 noon and 9 p.m. Petitions are available for three board seats, each a three-year term commencing on July 1 to replace Rose Joyce-Turner, Juliete Gaebel and Ken Cohen. Their terms expire on June 30.

Petitions are available in the district office at the SW Elementary School in Jeffersonville between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Petitions for nominating candidates for the office of member of the board of education must be filed with the clerk of the district by 5 p.m., Monday, April 22.

A public hearing on the budget will be held at the Sullivan West High School, in Lake Huntington on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m., for the purpose of presenting the budget document for the 2019-20 school year.

Continuous registration has been authorized in the office of the district clerk. Continuation registration is authorized between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The latest date on which the district clerk will register voters is May 16.

Anyone interested in obtaining an absentee ballot for the district election and budget vote must first request an application for absentee ballot. The district clerk must receive applications no later than May 14 (seven days before the vote), if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or by May 20 if the ballot will be picked up at the district clerk’s office.
