Sullivan West bestows athletic awards

Sam Becker received the 2018 Dedicate to Excellence Award.

Ava McLeod received the 2017-2018 Coach’s Award for female athletes.

Collin Hauschild received the 2017-2018 Most Valuable Senior Male Athlete award.

Mike Mullally and his coach Ron Bauer at the Section IX track and field qualifier at Faller Field. Mullally, Sullivan West’s “golden boy” in track was named Most Valuable Track Athlete 2018 (male) and also received the 2017-2018 Coach’s Award for male athletes.

Leizel Schlott received the Most Valuable Senior Female Athlete Award 2017-2018, while McKinley Bernitt was awarded the 2017-2018 Milt Gaebel Award (female). They are pictured at a college intent signing event earlier this month.

Isabel Nearing was named Miss Softball 2018. She is pictured in a game against Burke.

Collin Hauschild was named 2018 Offensive Player of the Year in baseball and Most Valuable Senior Male Athlete 2018. He is pictured dancing away from a low and inside pitch against Livingston Manor.

Brandon ”Booboo” Dailey was selected as baseball’s 2018 Defensive Player of the Year.

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — On Friday, June 15, Sullivan West High School recognized the stellar achievements of their student athletes on the various fields of play during their annual Spring Sports Awards ceremony organized by the athletic department, under the direction of athletic director David Franskevicz.

Trophies were handed out in several categories, listed as follows.

Most Valuable Track Athlete 2018 (male)—Michael Mullally

Most Improved Player 2018 (softball)—Morgan Kraack
Most Improved Golfer 2018 (male)—Liam Pereira-Mendoza
Lowest Average Score Golfer 2018 (male)—Tyler Ross

Most Valuable Golfer (female)—Montana Schmidt

Mike Mullally, Sullivan West’s gold-medal-winning track champion, was presented with a New York State Public High School Athletic Administration (NYSPHSAA) 2017-2018 banner for his winter indoor hurdling gold.

In addition, the Bulldogs “Golden Boy” was presented with a top hurdle bar engraved with all his state gold medal achievements:

2017 Spring Track: 110 meter hurdles (14.6 NYS), 400 meter hurdles (53.43 NYS).
2017-2018 Indoor Track: 55 meter hurdles (7.38 NYS & Federation).
2018 Spring Track: 110 meter hurdles (14.38 NYS), 110 meter hurdles (14.15 Federation), 400 meter hurdles (52.81 NYS).

Also at the event, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nancy Hackett was presented with an appreciation plaque in honor of her retirement after serving the local central school district for six years.
