The Sullivan County clerk to the legislature, AnnMarie Martin, sent an email late on Dec. 30 to reporters and officials saying the swearing-in ceremony and organizational meeting scheduled for Dec. 31 had been cancelled.
She also wrote that meetings scheduled for January 9, had also been cancelled.
"Please be advised that the Thursday, January 2, 2020 Swearing in Ceremony of the Sullivan County Legislature, the Organizational Meeting and the Thursday, January 9, 2020 Committee Meetings are cancelled and subject to reschedule," the email said.
The Sullivan Times website is reporting that the cancellation was due to the death "of the son of a local public official."
