MONTICELLO, NY — Three public health fellowship positions are open in Sullivan County.

The Sullivan County Department of Public Health, in collaboration with the NYS Department of Health, is now accepting applications.

The NYS Public Health Corps Fellowship Program helps local and state workforces respond to public health emergencies. New York’s 200 open fellow positions focus on program management, maternal-infant health, epidemiology and data, partnerships and communicable disease.

The program is open to college and advanced degree graduates interested in public health. It offers development opportunities, including Cornell University’s online Public Health Essentials Certificate Program, at no cost.

Karen Holden, director of Sullivan County Public Health, encourages applicants to apply if they have training in public health, nursing, allied health, health care, social services, communications, information technology, logistics planning, education, data science, administration or emergency preparedness.

Legislator Catherine Scott (D, 5) highlighted the value of learning from working professionals. “Classroom lessons are certainly valuable, but learning how to apply that knowledge—from people who work in the field every day —is an invaluable experience. I’m proud that our seasoned, caring staff is making time in their busy lives to provide this level of guidance and mentorship.”

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis through June 28. For more information and to apply, visit www.ny.gov/publichealthcorps.
