In my four years representing District 6, and as chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature, I have tried to be accessible and responsive to the people. I regularly travel throughout the county, attending town board meetings and listening to what people have to say, not just in my district, but in all nine districts.

I have worked hard to gain respect on the state and national level and was recently honored by being named to chair a law enforcement sub-committee for the National Association of Counties. This is a positive for Sullivan County.

As a full-time legislator, I have devoted my attention to representing the people of my district and Sullivan County. I have worked closely and collaboratively with the other eight legislators and the county manager to encourage growth, jobs and lower property taxes.

The county’s unemployment rate is at an all-time low. We built a much-needed new county jail, negotiated fair contracts with our union employees and improved our health indicators. There are many other positives too.

These things could not have happened without good leadership and a legislature that works together. There is much left to do. The county needs good, experienced, proven leadership to tackle the issues ahead.

We need to help the towns and villages by investigating and instituting more effective ways to share services, equipment, materials and manpower and to find innovative ways to continue lowering property taxes. We need to promote our tourism industry, including the resurgence of our Main Streets.

I promise to continue to be an accessible, responsive, full-time legislator and continue to use my proven leadership skills to keep the momentum going. I humbly ask for your support on Election Day. Let’s walk together and continue to make Sullivan County a great place to live, work and play.
