Sullivan legislature District Nine, Republican, Conservative, Independence candidate Alan Sorensen

During my time as the representative for Legislative District 9, I have been an independent voice who has steadfastly worked on behalf of everyone in our very diverse district. Whether it be for the residents of the Rock Hill or Monticello neighborhoods, I remain committed to honest and transparent government and to doing the hard work to support the initiatives prioritized by voters: from quality-of-life issues, access to employment training and a variety of opportunities for our youth, to first-class cell phone and cable service, well managed economic growth, environmental management and the revitalization of Broadway in Monticello as our “County Seat.”

My wife Jane and I have lived and worked in Rock Hill and Sullivan County for 23 years, have raised our three children here and seen them graduate from Monticello High School. As parents, we are connected to the community and school district and understand the issues we collectively face. I am committed to a fully funded Monticello Central School District, which must reap the benefits for our community’s hosting of the casino and water park. Additionally, access to job training and job opportunities must be provided to anyone in the county who desires work.

To address our future, we must grow our economy by traditional means and through eco-tourism. I will actively participate in the ongoing revitalization of Broadway in Monticello as it becomes a vibrant center for retail shopping, dining, movies, music and culture. I will continue the work I started as county planning commissioner to grow the Emerald Green Corporate Center in Rock Hill. Today, Rock Hill is an example of a community that combines smart business growth with an enjoyable quality of life and the ability to raise a family.
