Sullivan legislator's son dies in "tragic accident"

Posted

Christopher Sorenson,  son of Sullivan County Legislator Alan Sorensenm died on Dec. 30 that result of what the family called in a statement "a tragic accident nearby his home in Kiamesha Lake, New York."

The statement continued, "Christopher, the eldest child of three, was a 2011 graduate of Monticello High School and a young man of twenty seven with a kind heart and a belief that with hard work and kindness, he and others, could make a difference in the world. Chris was always encouraging and supportive of his younger sisters and never hesitated to let them know how proud he was of them. This came naturally to him because, with a smile on his face, he always put others before himself.

"Prior to his death Christopher was working for the Monticello Central School District in the Empire After School Program at the Chase School. He enjoyed this work very much and was well liked."

This is the time of year when family and friends gather to express their love and appreciation for one another and our family, strong, and very much together, will rely on the strength of each other and our dear loved ones and friends."

Alan recetnly won re-election to a four-year term in the Sullivan County Legislature, and he also has a planning consultant business.  Christopher's mother Jane works for the Monticello School District.
