I’m Russell Reeves, your deputy county clerk and candidate for Sullivan County clerk. I live in Parksville with my wife of 32 years in the home we constructed and have two sons; one now runs our excavation business. I have over 30 years of extensive business experience, including opening stores in shopping malls. Locally, we created jobs, employing over 50 people.

I have knowledge in deeds, covenants, right of ways, business contracts and judgments that pertain to the clerk’s office. With being a successful business owner comes providing good customer service, which we have provided for years, and I believe it is important to the clerk’s office. I served on the county’s Health and Family Services Advisory Committee, Community Development Corporation, Zoning Regulation Committee and the Greater Liberty Chamber of Commerce. I proudly served as president for 10 years, Liberty Town Councilman for six years and was appointed deputy supervisor. The town supervisor resigned unexpectedly, which made me acting supervisor in charge of the town with 50 employees and an approximate $8 million budget; working with my board, we had a seamless transition. I had an open-door policy making me accessible to the public. While on the board, we kept taxes at 0% increase, received grants, revitalized the town hall and ran the town efficiently.

For the past 18 months as deputy county clerk, I introduced e-filing for civil documents for online access, successfully petitioned NYS to have notary public tests in Sullivan County, revamped the money system, worked with IT and had security cameras installed. I plan on enacting appointments for enhanced driving licenses, expanding the help desk and the mobile DMV van to speed transactions in DMV.

I’m asking for your support on November 5. My on-the-job experience, successful businesses and public history qualify me for the position. Thank you for your consideration.
