WAYMART, PA — On the weekend of June 21 to 23, 15 members of the Wayne County Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) participated in the annual Radio Relay League Field Day at Valleyview Campground. They brought three campers and two enclosed utility trailers, which were home to seven radio stations for the weekend. During the 24 hours of radio operation, the goal is to make contact with as many other stations as possible; the club reached faraway places like Asiatic Russia and Hawaii. Worldwide results are tabulated and will be reported in December.
Those interested in amateur radio can learn more about the WCARC at their website, www.w3aro.org. Their next meeting will be held at the Gravity Inn in Waymart, Monday July 29 at 7 p.m.
