Statement on LaBuda, Rajsz primary

Posted

The following is a statement from Steven Vegliante, chair of the Sullivan County Democratic Committee:

"It has come to my attention that in an advertising mailer, Nadia Rajsz has made the statement "endorsed by Sullivan County Democrats”.  While I am sure that this statement is technically true, it’s plain reading may lead to confusion among primary voters.  Additionally, photographs and writings in other media publications have given the impression that the committee had chosen to endorse a particular candidate, which is simply not true.

"I would like to make the following clear to the voters of the Sullivan County Legislative District 2.  The Sullivan County Democratic Committee after much discussion, and in a democratic fashion, chose not to formally endorse any candidate for this race prior to the primary.  Simply put, there is no “endorsed” candidate of the Sullivan County Democratic Committee.  The Democratic Party is a big tent party and while we may not agree on everything, we are always strongest when we make our voices heard.   We encourage all voters in this district to educate themselves on the merits of the candidates and to participate in the primary election on June 25, 2019.  Our committee, in a thoughtful manner, decided that the endorsement should come from the voters of Sullivan County Legislative District 2.   In the next five (5) days, I would encourage each candidate to focus on their message of where they can improve the lives of the residents in their district and our County in general."
