Spring happenings at Tri-Gal 4-H Club

Our club has been very busy. We had to cancel our March meeting due to an ice- and snowstorm but jumped right into April.

On April 3, we hosted guest speaker Michelle Bradley Brown. She spoke to our club about various kinds of stress and ways to manage good and bad stress. This fulfilled our health and safety meeting requirement. Michelle has a private practice in Honesdale. We will use her suggestions both in and out of the show ring!

Our club also collected a basket of fun things in March for our little friend Griffin to do while he is recovering from surgery. This basket was delivered to his grandmother, Peggy Miller, and he received it when he came home from the hospital.

On April 23 members met at Rock Ridge Farm to honor Earth Day. Members, parents and leaders cleaned up the roadsides on Rutledgedale Road, part of Galilee Road and Wescott Road. Over 20 bags of trash were collected. Our club does this annually as a part of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful through PennDOT.

Members who were not able to join us that day will be cleaning up the roadsides near their homes.

Following the cleanup, we enjoyed pizza and desserts.

Our club will be holding a bake sale on Tuesday, May 17 at the Unity Grange Hall, 554 Galilee Rd. in Damascus from 12 noon to 8 p.m. or until sold out. The proceeds help fund our community service projects, club fair exhibits and club activities throughout the year.

For more information on how to become a 4-H member or volunteer, contact the Penn State Extension Office at 570/253-5970 ext. 4110.
