REGION — The snow and rainstorm followed by frigid arctic air left some neighborhoods in the region shimmering with a coating of ice.  By the time this issue of the paper hits mailboxes in the area the precipitation should once again be coming down in the form of rain.

At press time, a news storm dubbed Indra by the Weather Channel was headed toward our region and it was projected to bring more than an inch of rain to the region.

Many long-term forecasts are not available from the National Weather Service, which is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  A post on the website reads, “This site is being updated, however, only with furlough-related information to support NOAA employees; NOAA websites and social media channels necessary to protect lives and property are also being maintained.”
