DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), at 538 Emery Road, will offer a series of events in the month of February. There will be lessons in cross-country skiing on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m. on the first two weekends of the month. The cost is $20 per adult and $10 per child. Skis and boots provided; register with your shoe size to guarantee a spot. If there is no snow, there will be a free winter hike.

On Saturday, February 4 there will be an eagle watch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., making a stop at the Eagle Institute and looking for eagles soaring, feeding and nest guarding. Bring a lunch and dress in warm layers. Call by January 28 to reserve a seat in the van. The cost is $25. Also on February 4, there will be an animal tracking event from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. It is free for members and costs $5 for non-members.

Events on following weekends will include an introduction to ice fishing, a winter hike to view frozen waterfalls, another eagle watch and “Eco-zone afternoons” at the facility’s new hands-on discovery room.
