HONESDALE, PA — The SHINE Afterschool Program will return to Lakeside Elementary in Wayne Highlands and to Wallenpaupack South Elementary and will expand to Dingman-Delaware Elementary School, announced the Wayne-Pike Workforce Alliance (WPWA).
WPWA received a $2.29 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the program, which will establish five SHINE centers.
SHINE offers a safe and structured environment where students can receive academic asistance, engage in enriching activities and enjoy nutritious meals, according to WPWA.
WPWA "believes that every child deserves access to quality after-school programming and is committed to making that a reality," and "is grateful for the support of local school districts and community partners who have championed the importance of afterschool programming," according to its press release.
