Seeing familiar faces

What great weather we had on Sunday. I was working the St. Patrick’s Day Lunch for the Knights of Columbus. Not many people dined in to eat—most were takeouts. It was so nice to be doing something for the community; it was also great to see so many familiar faces. Barbara and Fred Donatelli and their friend, Dorothy Swick, thanked me for mentioning the Grover Hermann Hospital Auxiliary’s 50th anniversary in my column. If you missed it, you can still donate by calling 570/224-6173 or 570/729-8700. Then we got to talking about COVID-19 and about getting vaccinated. They told me that, if you get the COVID-19 vaccine, you must wait three months before you can get a mammogram. It has something to do with the glands.

Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC) is really trying to keep the kids busy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Follow them on Facebook for upcoming events.

More about 2021 tax season: It’s very important to keep in mind that, if you are paying online, make sure that you are paying the March amount—not the amount that the website shows when you sign on. You must go to the penalty section of the tax bill to find the right amount. I will not be able to take your payment if it is not the correct amount. If you cannot pay by Wednesday, March 31 when my books close, you will have to wait until the county starts its collection. If you would like to pay online, there is a three percent fee that goes to the credit card company. You can always send me an email at taxcollector@townofcochecton.ny.org; I will get back to you with an appointment.

I know that next Sunday is Palm Sunday, but I am willing to be at the tax office to collect taxes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. I only need to collect two percent more to beat last year’s number. We can do this. If the weather is bad, call 845/932-8360 ext. 17 first as I will not be in the office. If you would like to pay online—full payments only—visit www.webtownhall.com/onlinepaymentportalcochectonny/Home.aspx.

Wash your hands and, please, wear a mask. Have a great week. You can email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news.
