OBERNBURG, NY — St. Mary Church, which has the distinction of being the first Roman Catholic parish to be founded in Sullivan County, hosted a rededication ceremony on December 23 of the church’s new entry or narthex. It was also the 160th anniversary of the church.
The Rev. George Baker said, “So my brothers and sisters gathered for the blessing of this church rededication, let us take part in this celebration with reverence and a spirit of devotion. Let us pray fervently to the Lord that all who enter this church through this space in order to hear the word of God and celebrate the sacraments may heed the voice of Christ.”
