WURTSBORO, NY — New York State Police arrested Ricardo Appling, 34, of Wurtsboro on March 14, charging him with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, as well as second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. The charges stemmed from a road rage incident that occurred on Route 17 in Wurtsboro. Appling, identified as the operator of a red Honda Civic Del Sol, was driving erratically and menacing the operator of another vehicle. After both vehicles exited Route 17 at Exit 112, Appling stopped his vehicle and prevented the other vehicle from passing. He then exited his car, retrieved a crowbar, and approached the other vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was able to flee the scene while speaking to a 911 operator. Appling was arraigned before Judge Dolan in the Town of Mamakating Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail. His next court date is March 18.
