SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Frog Hollow is a stream with high-quality water that supports spawning brook trout. Over the years, management of an upstream, backwater-fed pond has led to the development of a barrier to fish seeking cold-water refuge and spawning opportunities in Frog Hollow.

Now a project involving the removal of a dam that has been a barrier to aquatic passage on this tributary of Willowemoc Creek has been completed. The realignment of the intake and the removal and restoration of the barrier site now allows fish to access over three miles of high-quality tributary habitat.

This project has reduced stream fragmentation in the watershed and allows fish and other aquatic species to move freely throughout their lifecycle, and it will improve the fishing on Willowemoc Creek.
