Zen Buddhist poetry and Cinco de Mayo
NARROWSBURG, NY — On Sunday, May 5 from 3 to 4:30 p.m., celebrate Poetry First Sunday at the Forage Space Art Gallery hosted by Karen Morris.
A discussion will explore the intersection of Cinco de Mayo and the principles of poetic expression found in Buddhist poetry. Afterward, ordained Zen practitioner Myoki Marcia Nehemiah will give a talk titled “An Eye on the Tip of Their Tongue: Zen and Poetic Expression.”
This event is free and BYOB friendly.
‘Out of Mind’ at the Tusten Theatre

Rafter’s Tavern kicks of inaugural art exhibit
CALLICOON, NY — On Saturday, May 4 from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Rafter’s Tavern is presenting the opening reception of “Land and Sea,” photography by Maureen Neville. Music by Lucas Rotman will follow at 8 p.m.
There will be a cash bar, music and the tavern menu. The exhibit will be on display through May 31.

HONESDALE, PA — Stage Door Cabaret returns to The Cooperage on Thursday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. This show is intended for a mature audience. Light refreshments will be served, but the event is BYOB friendly.
Stage Door Cabaret consists of six local musicians: Mark Applegate, Lindsay Rae Barnes, Karuss Carver, Jennifer Kiesendahl, Steve Faubel on piano and featuring Shawn Caden on strings.

Acoustic storytelling by MiZ
HONESDALE, PA — On Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m., The Cooperage is hosting the solo acoustic storyteller MiZ. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and there is a suggested donation of $10.
Mike Mizwinski, or MiZ, has been playing guitar since he was 15. The Americana/Roots-Rock musician is two-time winner of the tri-state indie award for Acoustic Artist of the Year and is currently on tour promoting his second studio album “A Year Ago Today.”
