GREENTOWN, PA — The museum at Promised Land State Park is seeking donations of taxidermy mounts for its natural history section. Specifically sought are a rattlesnake skin, a bluebird, a fisher, birds of prey (hawks and owls) and a river otter. Among other animals sought are black bear, ring-necked pheasant, beaver, snowshoe hare, smallmouth bass and blue jay.

To be exhibited at the museum, any mount must be a Pennsylvania native animal (no lions, tigers or monkeys) or at least one found in Pennsylvania (some fish and birds are not native). It must be in great to good condition, and mounted in a natural way (i.e. an owl with a stretched out neck and scrunched feet, etc.). The mount must have been legally obtained (no endangered species).

Your donated mount will include a sign that informs visitors who gave the mount to the park. Call 570/676.0567.
