Pride in the community

NARROWSBURG, NY — It probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that Brendan and Kathleen Weiden were recognized for their work in the community. The couple was awarded the Township Award as part of Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Pride Awards on Thursday, November 12.

Since 2015, the couple has been facilitating the creation of The Narrowsburg Union, a community space housed in the former Narrowsburg Central School Building at the corner of Bridge Street and Erie Avenue. Their mission: “To reimagine one of Narrowsburg’s most iconic buildings as a multi-use commercial facility that builds on the existing strengths of the Upper Delaware River Valley region and communities, while providing an environment for new ideas to germinate and flourish.”

The complex features a print, pack and ship facility; a commercial kitchen; office space; art exhibition spaces; a hall for rent; and Catskill Curated, a store that offers hand-picked items from local makers, as well as information about the area at their own Upper Delaware Visitors Center.

New this year, the Narrowsburg Union is offering a Holiday Market, open weekends beginning the day after Thanksgiving, in the Delaware Hall, a 4,500-square-foot event space.
