EAST STROUDSBURG, PA — The founding farmers of the Pocono Garlic Festival have expanded it to celebrate the abundant bounty of produce available in the Northeast, renaming the event “Pocono Garlic and Harvest Festival.” It will take place this year on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2 at the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, 401 Hollow Rd.

For 24 years the festival has celebrated everything garlic, in conjunction with supporting local family farms; this year garlic, while still a highlight, will share the spotlight with the rest of the region’s late summer harvest bounties.

The venue will still offer four platforms of continuous entertainment, included with the cost of admission. Entertainment includes live performers from far and near plus magicians, jugglers and strolling musicians. Hands-on amusement can be had at the petting zoo, or learn about the wild animals from the Pocono Wildlife Rehab Center. Locally grown hard-neck garlic will remain on center stage along with many other local produce offerings. Chef Dan Rothman of Slow Food Pocono Mountains will be returning to share his culinary skills and knowledge with cooking demonstrations. For more information  call 570/421-7231.
