MATAMORAS, PA — In February of this year, which was National Senior Independence Month, Pike County Area Agency on Aging’s activity  and program director, Lana Romeo, announced the launch of two new programs offered through the office free of charge: Bingocize and Healthy Steps in Motion (HSIM).

Bingocize is an evidence-based health and wellness program aimed at promoting physical fitness and proper nutrition by combining exercise with the game of Bingo. Throughout the game, Bingocizers complete exercises and answer questions on the topic of health and wellness.

Bingocize will be held at the Eastern Pike Center at the Matamoras firehouse, 506 Avenue Q. The program has a limited number of slots available.

Healthy Steps in Motion is an exercise program designed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to promote regular physical activity among the older adult population. HSIM workouts are offered to area adults at no cost. Classes consist of all aspects of a standard workout including warm-up, balance, weight resistance, strength training and a cool-down segment.

HSIM will be held every Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. through April 25 at the Eastern Pike Center at the Matamoras firehouse.

Those interested in either program can call the aging office at 570/775-5550 to register.
