Watercolor on Yupo paper workshop

ONLINE — On Wednesday, December 2, Judith A. Hummer will present a free art master class that involves pushing the limits of traditional watercolor techniques to achieve creative and unusual effects. This 5:30 to 8 p.m. session via zoom is planned to accommodate both hands-on artists and relaxed observers.

Yupo is a high gloss, synthetic, tree-free, recyclable material. It is also a correctible surface, meaning that if after trying an idea the artist does not like the result, the paint can be wiped off. Consequently, no paper is wasted. Hummer believes, “Yupo is a perfect surface with which to play; a lot of times we forget to play and just have fun with our art. Yupo is the answer.” However, Yupo is slippery. During the master class, Hummer will share some easy ways to handle this art surface. In addition, she likes to be adventurous by using common, household items to add texture.

Participants should put “Yupo Supplies” in the subject line and email cultural@sunyorange.edu to request a list of suggested supplies for the class.

For more information and to register, visit www.bit.ly/sunypaint48. Email cultural@sunyorange.edu with any additional questions.
