Part of the solution

First of all, I would like to thank The River Reporter for being part of the solution and not part of the problem. Second, for many years a law has been on the books to protect the eagles and other wildlife from possible harm. The attitude in Narrowsburg has been “don’t ask – don’t tell.” In my opinion, this attitude is a very dangerous one; it says I can break the law until I get caught. What is the point of having laws if we are allowed to break them year in and year out—until caught?

If “Eagle Town USA” doesn’t like the laws that protects eagles, then they should work to change the laws. But let’s not send a message to the younger generation that it is okay to ignore laws that you don’t agree with. July 4th should be a reminder of what this country stands for, freedom to live in a law-abiding society.
