The liberal media seems to declare Harris the winner of the debate. It appears that conservative media and pundits do not know how to handle
this issue.
Harris never answered the first question from the moderators and continued in this mode throughout the debate while accusing her opponent of trying to "cancel the Constitution" and similar falsities. She scored some points for
an average voter with an empty talk about looking toward the future.
Trump scored some good points with mentioning the Secretary General of NATO saying that Trump achieved the impossible while not in the office by making NATO members to increase their defense budgets in 2024 by threatening not to defend them if they did not and also by explaining that on January 6 he urged his supporters to demonstrate peacefully. Trump shot himself in the foot by continuing insisting on "stolen election" and may have done the same by mentioning Haitian immigrants in Springfield, OH allegedly eating pets.
The last issue, which is entirely immaterial, should have never been mentioned
in the debate that spent time on this irrelevant issue and so did the media
before the debate.
Both candidates resorted to customary accusations of each other of "lying."
The perception of the results of the debate is largely based on political
proclivities and the political orientation of listeners. Thus, the conservative
media should have declared Trump a winner. Instead, they are complaining
about the ABC News moderators who allegedly gave the advantage to Harris.
The conservatives just do not know how to handle this issue well.
In my mind, the ABC News moderators have handled this debate better than
the moderators of presidential debates of the recent past.
